When I was completing my board approved lash training through a MN state board approved school to receive my license, It was a 38-hour course. That was back in 2021. Now, that course has been reduced to only 14 hours. When I was taking the training I completed both a practical and a written test. After that, I was completely on my own. Even with 38 hours of training I felt completely in the dark. All I learned was how to place a lash on a mannequin strip lash. I learned nothing about retention, the chemistry of adhesive, contact dermatitis, ocular health, or customizing lash maps for each individual client. I can’t imagine how inadequate learning for only 14 hours would be like to become a licensed lash tech in Minnesota.
Did you know in most US states you have to take over 14 hours of training OR be a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist to legally apply lash extensions for compensation? With this in mind, I discovered the lack of education the lash industry had in Minnesota and wanted to make something that could help those that were in my place 4 years ago get to where I am today, without all the obstacles.
